HOLY EPIC JOURNEY ACROSS THE WEST COAST BATMAN!!!
I had been expecting some Lemon Blue Bantam Cochin eggs in the mail. But there was a little mixup/mistake as to where they were being sent. So they went from Escalon, CA to Sacramento, CA all the way to ANCHORAGE ALASKA. Then they were caught up in my forwarding that I have set up from my Alaska address and sent BACK to California by way of Richmond then on to Oakland. To top it off, they were sent to Antioch by mistake, marked as not deliverable as addressed then sent to Pittsburg CA where they were just dropped off to me at my home. Found them on the doorstep.......box on it's side...........
the side that says FRAGILE HATCHING EGGS on it.
SOOOOOO, I candled them and they look pretty bad. No breaks or cracks, but temps in AK were in the single digits and very very dry. Air cells are *ALL* detached. Some of them look like the yolk may have frozen or dried to the side of the shell? Not sure what to do here. Sierra View (the seller) was kind enough to send me more eggs ASAP, so I don't necessarily need to set these. But I am curious. Anyone have advice on banged up eggs? Detached air cells? Scrambled yolks? PICS WOULD BE SUPER HELPFUL!! Otherwise, I might let them sit for a while and try to set them for the NYD Hatch Along.
We shall see.... BTW....the postal service is officially the BANE of my existence.....
