4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

Found our french white scovy do better on their sides being treated more like the goose eggs. The domestic ducks do fine in the cabinet racks standing upright. We mist and cool goos eggs daily to aid in aircell development.Makes for a long 30 days when dealing with multiple eggs, but worth it to get high hatch rates.
Omg you guys, I tripped while walking by the incubator this morning, and 3 more eggs ended up inside. Oh the humanity!
LOL, be careful of those trip hazzards

Here's 2 of my Christmas presents the wife got for me LF Mottled Cochins 5 hens an a cock bird what a great Christmas gift I hope you all get great gifts like these Merry Christmas everyone.

they look small till you consider I am 6.5 LOL
What a nice wife you have! I wish my husband would get me something like that. We don't have much money around Christmas time so don't get each other anything.

us either I bought them for myself and told her she could claim them as her gift to me

can you believe that worked, I really am a blessed man to have such a great wife.

Well, it's confirmed. Red has got to go. Nine infertile out of 15. Only six of my eggs are developing and the temp wasn't the culprit. I am extremely unhappy with Red and chances are he's going to be dog food. No one is going to take a mean roo that doesn't do his job. Unless someone has another idea as to what is going on with him. I've had fantastic hatch rates in the past with him as the covering roo.
How old is he?
If he is over two..he is ready for the pot in some breeds

I pulled two chicken and four duck eggs today. :/ I'm blowing them out (they had NO development) and feeding the innards to the birds and saving the shells for something (dunno what yet). Has anyone ever filled a blown egg with something to turn it into a dummy egg? I wish I were more artsy, I could make up some ornaments for the tree (though we have some ornaments that were $0.25/pack at a yard sale, I'd still enjoy having some ornaments from the ladies here).

Oh my...I am in SOOOOOO much trouble!

Don't make the mistake I did by checking out this link: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...hatchery-surprise-anybody-got-this-before/370

I will be ordering several of these, after the holiday season is over. Here is my thought..lets say you get 50 chicks for $50.00 shipped...you turn around and sell all the chicks for $3.00-$4.00 each and double your money!

Plus, I might get to keep a few babies from each batch. What do you think, do I have a good idea?

Oh, and yes I'm being an enabler by posting that link here...I did that on purpose!

Roscoe sealed his fate last night... He attacked my daughter. All she had to defend herself was the feed bucket and he went after her so hard, he put two holes in the feed bucket. That's it, he's gone... I'm not putting up with this kind of behavior!

My BIL has intervened to save his life, though... He has a friend who had a mean rooster who actually acted like a gaurd dog. Wouldn't let any one near his house. Then his daugther ran him over, so he's looking for another rooster, and actually wants one with a bad attitude! Roscoe's getting put in a crate tomorrow morning and taking a ride into town so my BIL can deliver him to his new home!

Sure hope I get a nice roo from the NYD hatch...

Didn't you remove his spurs not to long ago? That can take them out of the mood for a while.
