Wow. I'm almost ready to give up on raising ducks. After losing a hennie to prolapse, then one to starvation, I hatch out three eggs... One was weak, though it recovered the strength in its legs, but now it's failing again, lethargic. I also have one that's blind. So, one duckling is healthy and strong, two are probably not going to make it.

Sorry about your luck with the ducks. I have a little call duck that is blind. She hatched that way and other than giving her a seeing eye buddy and keeping her in a pen so she knows where food and water is and is safe I haven't treated her different than the other ducks, and she's doing great. The kids love her, she's really calm and of course doesn't run away.

Both of her eyes had cataract things in them when she hatched.

Last night around midnight I was blessed to witness a chick hatch for the first time! We call him/her Shellbert (although we don't know which one that one is now) because he/she had a little shell on his/her head like a hat. When I went to bed there were lots of other eggies peeping and pipped. I woke up this morning to find more chickies!!

Congratulations! I'm impressed that you actually slept last night, with my first hatch, I think I stayed up for 2 nights watching them hatch; I was so excited.

Good Morning!

We had a Pacific Storm come though last night, with wind, lightening and rain! It was cold too, so the snow level came down to the valley floor for us.

We now have a break before the next one, so I took a picture for Mrs. Fluffy Puffy:

I set one egg on the set day... then we went back to the farm and got 12 more the very next day However, I have 7 left now... but chicken math struck.... I've got 8 more eggs shipping that should be here in the next 1-2 days or so.

Chicken math! LOL Where are you having eggs shipped from? What kind?

If the eggs I pulled from the incubator aren't rotten, can they be used? Cooked up for the chickens or dogs perhaps?

I was wondering the same thing as I threw out 3 dozen of infertile eggs the other day.
