4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

My goodness there have been a lot of post since the last time I was on. I was 70 pages behind, got caught up on 20, but then started getting behind again and gave up. I have 9 chicks out so far. I didn't get to mess with the humidity last night or put the eggs in a hatching tray so they stayed in egg stacking egg trays and where running around on the bottom of the incubator. The humidity was only at 15% so I am suprised they were able to hatch. I have it up to 35% now but not sure I can get it much higher. I may have to help some if they get stuck. I hope they hatch well but I don't have my hopes up too high.

I have finally gotten caught up again. Congrats on all the pretty chicks and ducklings. Got to do evening chores.
Hi Crissy!!!!

wait its not evening yet is it?

Flour works fine for bloody navels - I've used it many times. Supposed to be cornstarch, but all I had at the time was flour and never had a problem with it. Have even used it for bloody claws and such when I can't find the styptic. If you have cornstarch, use that instead if it works better for ya. =)
Cool, now I know!
This morning I had two ducklings hatched and one was half out and now when I went for pics she is stiff!!! I almost flipped, she made it that friggen far!!! I pulled her out of the shell and it was filled with globby blood!!!! she musta ruptured her navel veins or something!!! OMG I was so sad!!!! WE ONLY have two ducks and I swear I WILL NEVER EVER HATCH ducks again!! or else I need to do ALOT MORE RESEARCH because I should have done some things different during incubation but I chose dry incubation route.. NOT AGAIN for DUCKS!!!

QUESTION: what kinda dish and depth water do I need for newly hatched ancona ducklings?

Oh Sally, I'm so sorry :( But those two are so very cute! Man, ducks are killer cute!
Now you know you ALL want naked neck chicks!! Right Right? :)

Amazing, Love your pictures!
I have one more pip that I can see that makes 2 serama eggs out of five pipped.
Is the live cam on? I have to go check! LOL

I'm so behind again, I'm sorry, I'm skipping forward, even so I hate missing anything :(

food is fine, they dont need it right away. By the way the medicated verse unmedicated isnt a big a deal now as long ago (change in medication used in the feed)

dont forget waterfowl need more niacin than chickens or can develop leg issues. If not feeding a waterfowl feed/starter be sure to offer brewers yeast or niacin in the water or sprinkled on the food.

Silkie #1 is out and the other is pushing!

#1 has a bump on her head, at the back its hilarious. i dont think its normal but oh well, shes a doll.
no pics >.< camera decided to fill up on storage.
A Hatcher on the diary incubating thread just hatched a silkie like that too!!! her pics are soooo freakin adorable!!!
