4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

I started with 9 duck eggs, 11 chicken eggs and 40 quail. I have one duckling and ten quail. There are others due on Friday, but I'm not sure how they'll do, since the air cells are so badly messed up. Better news, my turkey eggs are developing. Going to auction next week to try to get a new pekin male and sell off some chicks.

Awesome!!! :celebrate
There was a thread I read where someone's chicks were doing that, and they were dying possibly because they were under the heat lamp and couldn't get away to cool themselves??  My new serama chick did that once in the incubator, but I righted her, and she didn't do it again??  My guess is to keep an eye on it, perhaps it just doesn't have good control of her feet yet?

Thanks she is doing so much better. :)

So far we have 68 quail (from 100 shipped eggs!), and three chicks. The quail hatched a day later than expected so I am thinking our temps ran a little low.

Ahhhhh!!!! I just saw one pip!!! I happened to be looking right at it and the shell popped!!! This is SO COOL!!!!!!!

lol..now you're having fun!!

no chicks yet, but I set late on the 11th, so

for some action tonite!!

I thought mine were goners, as we had to set early in the day, 7:00 am, and I still had nothing happening. So I tried someone's suggestion to tap the bator, and we all could hear cheep, cheep, cheep! More patience I guess, better get the brooder ready!

That would be me..tap tap, I love to do that when I see nothing happening with pips. Good, glad it worked, now you know, they are doing fine!
