Hello everyone. I have been barely at home the last few days and had given up on my eggs. But this morning when I opened the incubator to candle/test and see if there was hope I had another pip, and a cheeping egg. So I guess my hatch is not over yet after all. 800 posts.. don't think i'm going to catch up, I cant even find ron's digests, ahahahah!
did it look like it had a crest when it was born? Well, even a tiny poof? Mine doesn't! DXIve got an older chick thats a polish x white leghorn from neighbors eggs... it looks like a leghorn with a top hat poof lol
What a sweet baby!Oh boy, I'm loving all of the baby pictures! I have a few of my own. My Nankin started to really make noise around 4:30 in the morning, you know I had to get up to check. It started zipping real around 5..was out by just before 6. I put a towel in the brooder for her, she thinks it's mama, when she hears a noise, like me walking in, she ducks right into the towel. Cute.. I call all of my babies "she" when they hatch. Wishful thinking on this one for sure.
She started liking the handling, and was snuggling up against my hand, then I held her
close, and she snuggled right up under my chin. I love chick babies. Precious.![]()
You should have entered this in the egg contest that recently ended!
Aw, poor thing! I'm so sorry! If you were closer I'd give you the two ducklings I have right now.Lost my NYD hatched duckling in the night. I'm not sure it was eating.I did get a new chicken chick out. Cornish cross baby. Hopefully my shipped eggs do well.![]()
I'm in love....again!These are the 4 little ones that hatched for me.
Ringo (Serama mom/Showgirl dad) - naked neck, 4 toes and no feathers on legs
![]()
Star (Serama mom/Showgirl Dad) - 5 toes and feathered shanks
No naked neck
Chipper (Sizzle mom/Showgirl dad) - 4 toes
Alfonz - (Silkie or Sizzle mom/Showgirl dad) - naked neck, 5 toes and feathered legs.
It will be fun to see what they grow up like. This is my winter pen that will be separated a bit in the summer. We only have one Serama and she grew up with most of the Silkies, so she is pretty comfortable in there.
Started with 12 eggs...4 chicken 8 quail....I got 1 chick....the rest either never started it quit![]()
YepOk, so I just read that in a still air incubator you are supposed to keep the temp 101-102. Is that correct? I thought I knew what temp to keep it at ( I kept it at 99-100).
I don't think that alone would have killed all of my eggs right, it should have just slowed things down. But am I really supposed to keep it at 101-102 in a still air bator?
Nice picture! Love the colorationI am aaaalmost done with my hatch. Still have hopes for the one last B&W silkie egg. Did a quick candle yesterday and saw movement, but had not pipped the internal air cell yet, so I am at least giving it a chance. It is my first experience with silkies...on a whim at the last minute thanks to BYC I found WVstruttin' in the next county with a dozen silkie eggs....and his blues came through for me to add two blues to the collection.
I was so sorry to hear he lost power for 17 hrs. lockdown day, and lost his NYD hatch. Our power blinked several times that day, but stayed on...and of nine silkies going into lockdown, eight are alive and well, and one still in the bator with hope!
Totally smitten with these lovely fuzzy footed babies!
Only ten pages behind? Trying 100 pages behind....Over 10 pages behind again! I give up! LOL, but congratulations to everyone with chicks this morning!!!![]()
You know, that's really not a bad hatch! I do hope those that hatched and are hatching will make it as well, but don't be too sad, it wasn't so bad!
Gorgeous! I love her color!
Another one with such beautiful colors! Congratulations!
I think it depends on where the temperature is being taken. If the sensor is at the bottom, they'll say cooler and if it's at the top they'll say warmer, I'd put a thermometer right were the eggs are and watch that (99.5) Or get a computer fan, a small one, and rig it up with an old cell phone charger? It's really not hard!
What a great picture!
Awww!! How adorable <3 I had quite a few new hatchlings this morning, I helped out a couple, some more babies hatched, and I'm still helping a few out...slowly! LOLYes, they are! They all come running to the front of the brooder when they see/hear me! They think I'm their momma! LOL At least that's what hubby says![]()
Hope you won't need to help too many!
