4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

Finally ... a photo of my babies in the brooder cabinet! I have to find the right drill bit to make the cord hole in the back, which is why it is coming out the top right now. Other than that it's ready for occupation. Top will be added when I get a round tuit. The top hinges open and there are removable plexi-glass panels inset in the doors to keep drafts out when I open the mudroom door.

amazeing love it

So we need to work on our camera skills around here (as well as hatching skills but...)

Here are my two NYDH chicks "B" & "K"
still working on letter correct names, nearly sure B is a boy he acts like a roo, he has actually been finding food and calling K over and giving it to her like a Roo trying to make nice w/ a hen!
& K

This is B (Maran over Ameraucana) see the fuzzy on the face, ok well it is there IRL

B streching his neck, K in background saying What's Up?

K in front (color is off, she is very yellow & grey) , B in back

Dear Hatchers and Non Hatchers,
I just wanted to THANK all of you for making the 4th Annual NYD a success. As you probably know, this was the first time any of my team or I led a hatch and then to lead one of this size was overwhelming.
I found as we were getting closer to the hatch date, it was more difficult to remain caught up. There was frustration felt by some of you that my team and I were not answering questions posted in the thread. It had been requested numerous time to PM with questions but I fear those requests were also lost in the thread.
My team had everything set up and ready to roll on Dec 10. At this time, there were requests from higher ups to change stuff. This caused a ton of stress for my team. There were many times that some of us were ready to throw in the towel.
Each of us on my team have had personal issues pop up. As a result, it became more difficult to devote the time needed to the 4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long. Reading criticism of our running of the hatch added to our personal burdens. I value constructive criticism, especially when solutions/offers to help are given.
I truly value all of you and am glad that you all participated. Please bear with us as we wrap up the contests. At that time I will have made my final decision as to if I will host another hatch or not. After the events of Dec 10, I told higher ups that I would not host another, but decisions can be changed. I do know some of my team will not be continuing for another hatch. I will make my decision soon enough to be able to give somebody else plenty of time to get things organized.
Thank you all for making this a great SUCCESS!

Jim, You took on a monumental task that no one except those who have "gone before" can truly appreciate! As a teacher, you know that some lessons have to be learned in the school of hard knocks...and you have graduated with high honors!!

I think the team did an amazing job. I couldn't keep up with even a quarter of everything, so how you guys did it is beyond me! Thank you all for all of the hard work and dedication!

I think you all have done an amazing job and I can't fathom how you managed to find enough hours in the day and night but this has been one of the most pleasurable expriences I have had on an Internet site and the memories of my first BYC NYD Hatch Along will stay with me always. Thanks so much!!! matt
