Wouldn't it work to just strain it even with grains addedIf you are using just mash, and no grains I dont see why you have to use two buckets. I use one for the chicks. They don't get grains
Quote: The best place to ask that question probably would be the FF thread. I agree with what you are saying. You can use the one bucket system if that is your preference. You have to use what works for you. The two bucket system allows all the good cultures to grow in a back slop. It stays in the bottom bucket and keeps working. Some of it leaches into the top bucket and ferments the feed when the top bucket is inserted. You still get FF with a one bucket system, just a different type of FF.
I would not add raw meats or like you stated the shells. The raw meats are best served raw and not fermented.
It sure can, and keeping it simple is best.Ok I feed a mix of Flock raiser and layer crumbles to my laying birds and just strait flock raiser to my young birds. And hopefully soon some spent grains. Can that just be fermented .

Sorry if they have already said this on the FF thread, but one of the reasons you would see the chickens do better with this is fermenting the soy. Until it is fermented, Soy is a poison.
