4wk Barred Rock Roo or Hen

This is Oreo, my barred rock beauty. I was thinking she was a hen but her comb and wattle are pretty red and big. I don’t have a clue! I am a first time chicken owner and just wish I could get some of my chicks gender known. Don’t mind the dog in the background haha!

Thank you so much! It’s looking like we will have two roosters so I’m going to have to find one a home. We definitely want one but I love them all so it’ll be hard to choose. I will definitely post more pics in two weeks.

Sometimes those rooster decisions become easier as they reach sexual maturity and start making troubles with the females.

My husband said he got Oreo out of the pullet bin at the store. Could he have gotten a rooster from out of the bin supposed to be just pullets?

Yes. They only guarantee 90% accuracy on sexing.

Mistakes are made. Give it a few more weeks. It may still be a pullet.
