5 Day Old VS. 1 Day Old

So I have hatched peeps out before. All different kinds. Chickens, ducks, peafowl, etc.
This is my first time hatching out Turkeys. My first came on Sunday (5days Old today) and my second one came last night. Well i gave the youngest time to dry off and figure out his legs. I tried to introduce them, my oldest is pecking him ALOT!
I took him back out, gave it a couple of hours then tried again. He immediately starts pecking him as soon as he is in there.
What do i do?

As sad as it is the young one may have a health issue. Bird usually can sence something wrong with another and want to get rid of it. Same thing happened to my duck, she was pecked at by the others and was mcuh smaller. One day she just couldn't stand and about an hour later she died. She was 3 days old.
Just don't get too attached to it, but I wish it luck.

I thought about that as well. Because the second one even hatched late. But this is the set up i have right now. And he can reach his head to peak him but he doesn’t. But once he is out of the box it’s game on. It’s like he just doesn’t want him in his space or something.

The new chick is weak. I dont necessarily believe he is sick, and i dont believe the other chick has special powers to disern he is sick either. Chickens and turkeys naturally live by a pecking order. The older chick may have strong dominate tendencies already and the younger just has not recovered from the exhasting work of hatching. Dont put him with the older chick that will bully him to death. I would keep them in the same box so they see and hear each other, but separated by window screen or mesh wire of some sort. Make sure he drinks some Quick chick elecrolite and boost medication or what ever your farm supply has. He will perk up and later be able to defend himself. Good luck and let us know how he does. Hopefully he makes it as one chick by himself will not be happy.

I say it is the age difference. Older chicks will naturally bully younger ones.

I still have them separated. They do fine like this so we will see. I guess i will just have to get a taller box. Hopefully they get along soon.
With the pecking order, I’ve seen that many times but never like this. It’s like he wants to peck him until he is dead.

Separate them. The broody hens might peck or bite her babies, better separate them until the baby are strong enough.
