Our 9 month old BP-Rock has laid 5 'Fart Eggs' in a row. She did some molting over the winter but has laid some normal eggs as well.
She appears very healthy and happy. Any ideas?

I have a hen that has taken a while to get the kinks worked out. She laid a fart egg and didn't lay for three weeks. Then she laid a huge med brown a few days in a row. Found a double fart. Looked like two sausage links hooked together. Didn't lay for a couple of days and laid a couple wierd eggs with the one end of the shell looked like it was pieced together. Laid two normal eggs after that and then went broody. Funny thing was none of the eggs were hers. She even stole one out of the box next to the one she deciced to use. It just goes to show sometimes it takes a while. Just make sure she's on layer feed and getting enough calcium.

I had two fart eggs in a row then NO eggs since last week. Our hen is over three years though. Quite a bit older and definitely toward the end of her reliable production years. She was an amazing layer for 18 months, then this Winter it just stopped and we have had totally sporatic laying ever since.
