5 things I wish I knew before I started incubating

1-People don't jokingly say this is addictive, this IS addictive

2-Lots can go wrong and you might still get a decent hatch

3-The incubator stinks during the hatch

4-incubating eggs causes power outages (murphey's law)

5-Once they pip it seems to take FOREVER for them to hatch

My two biggest mistake I wished people had told me about before I started incubating.

1. I wished someone had told me about Little Giant incubators before I bought two.

2. I wished someone told me about ebay scams before I bought tons of eggs and put them in my Little Giant incubators

The only other thing I can think of is:

I wish someone told me that "hand-turned" eggs hatch much better than the "automatic turner" eggs~~at least for me anyway.

dont have a bunch of people there when they hatch... those tiny windows arent built for group viewing

1. Once you turn it on...it will NEVER turn off.
2. Have to plan your vacation around incubating.

1. Birds are patient, I am not.

2. If you are really curious when hatching, you will also have lots of guilt.

3. Surprisingly, ducks can bite pretty hard.

4. ANTS!

5. Yelling at an egg for it to hatch will get you nowhere

Only problem I have with the LG is the temperature control knob is super sensative. Just the slightest turn and it jumps 5 degrees.

This is my first time using one and I'm using a Hovabator along side it. So far it seems like the hovabator is having a better hatch rate. But I can't say that its the difference in the bator. Eggs came from two different sources and were started on different days. Could have been a difference in quality of eggs, could be a difference in my skills... who knows for sure.
