Hey all.
We incubated 9 eggs Feb 9. We had 8 hatch on March 2. So we are 5 weeks old today. They look like they are doing well :D
Here are some pictures.
They are Black Australorps.

I tried to sex them when they were little by the wing length but I didn't record it as I didn't have a way to identify them later. (Definitely something I'll do in the future).

Judging from our first bunch of chicks we raised (store bought) This picture of our hatched ones (of the ones you can see) looks to me like we have 3 roosters. I'm looking at the combs here. I know that a hen can have a big comb too. We did have one in our last batch but what do you think so far? Can you tell yet? When can you tell? Should I look another way?

Thanks

4-5 cockerels (one is a bit hidden in each shot).
For future reference, wing feather sexing would not be applicable to these chicks. Wing feather sexing as a sex linked trait must be specifically bred for by crossing slow and fast feathering parent birds and would not apply for this breeding. It is not universal to all chicks, in fact it is applicable to only a very select few

Bummer. I think I was in denial and wanted to hear some expert advice. I would have prefered hens. Thank you everyone for the advice so far :D

So my question now is what to do with all the ROOs? A friend is taking one of them.

Is it possible to house them together and slaughter them later for meat purposes? If so How does one do that? What does everyone else do with unwanted ROOS?
