My chicks look almost completely feathered. Does it have to be warm for them to go outside and play, or would they be ok at 50 degrees and protection from wind?

Thanks!

My BLRW chicks are six weeks old today and I have been letting them go outside since they were four weeks old. I make sure it is sunny out,

the ground is not wet and most importantly, they can get back into their house and warm up under their heatlamp if they feel cold! Today here in Northern California it is raining hard, so they are locked in for the day.

Yes, but I'd keep an eye...and an ear ...on them. They'll do that "help!" kind of peeping if they're too cold, and huddle together.

Mine are working of their 6th week and have been in a doghouse with temps as low as the low 40's without heat. They have been fine. Meeting me each morning wanting their breakfast. Tonight and tomorrow they get to experience rain for the first time.

Yay! I'm so glad to hear this. I'll not hesitate next time! I'm getting a little anxious for them to move out. lol
