You're welcome! And sure, I will be glad to help you learn. #5 is a for sure cockerel because of his red growing on the wing bows, and his comb is reddening quickly for his age. I am not totally sure #6 is a cockerel, but it puts out cockerel vibes because the chick looks as if it may have early reddening developing.

Great, thank you. 5 threw me off because he has what I think is a rose comb so it doesn’t get that typical big, spiky appearance - but I now see what you mean about the colour. Shame, he was the only one I was hoping was a pullet!

I agree with this, although 6 and 3 are tough to tell.

6 is definitely a head scratcher, I was fairly confident 3 was a boy.. but then I’m an absolute novice so I could be pulling that out of thin air . I have some Auracanas to post later, they are double the age and still ALL have me completely stumped!

What breeds are they, anyway? If they are supposed to be a certain breed, you can find out that way if the cockerel should have rose comb. You can also send us a picture of his comb in the front.

Thank you! Can I ask what makes you think 5 and six are boys? Just trying to get better at IDing myself!

For number 6, I think cockerel based on the size & color of the wattles under his chin. They are much like 3 (probably cockerel) and much bigger & brighter than the ones that are probably pullets (4, 7, 8).

I didn’t breed them, but from memory they were from a pen with isa browns, australorp, Easter eggers and maybe Wyandotte? Also, I have no idea what I was on about - little guy definitely doesn’t have a rose comb lol!

That looks like a normal single comb!
