Oh how exciting! I have never hatched anything but chickens. I'll bet baby ducks are adorable! Good luck with your hatch.

LOL. My other half has to put up with that every time I have a new egg. Forget winning a contest.

Hehe. My family thinks I'm nuts too. When I got my very first egg (and a pretty blue one at that) I was so happy and excited I was giddy. They said you'd think I'd just given birth I was so happy and silly. Pffft.

It really was a lot of fun, and Sally is awesome! I expect in the next week or so this ones gonna get pretty lively too, lol! It's already headed there, and Ron is doing such a great job of staying on top of all of the add ons and questions. It makes my head spin!!

If it gets too much livelier how will any of us keep up?!?!

LOL last night I got impatient and set three 'tester' eggs to check fertility. Should have eight eggs to set for the hatch-a-long unless my other two free loaders start laying.

Tonight I am setting up my three bators. Getting them balanced etc. I should have forty plus mixed barnyard eggs. The roo is a splash bantam in with fifteen assorted purebreds and six mutt hens. Also have serama but only one egg so far.

Well I need a good site to get a good thermometer from. When should I get my incubator set up and going? How many of the spaces under the turning rack should I fill with water? It is a still air incubator. I think if this goes ok and I get atleast ONE chick I am going to buy a different incubator and become addicted like the rest of you. I guess I have the time for all of this now, they dismissed me from nursing school today for being at a facility that I was not assigned to in full uniform, I had no clue that was a rule. Guess I have more time for chickens.
