5th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2014 Hatch-A-Long

Oooooo….where do I find these?  Are they on BYC BST?  is Chooklit hatching with us?  Does she have MF too?  I'm trying to steer away from the Calico and get a deeper base color on my guys.  Although MF are not a recognized variety, from what I understand, they can still be shown and just not get Best of Breed or make it to Champion Row (Best of Class).   I have shown mine, and my kids use them for showmanship in 4H.

Oh nooooooo….there is no getting out of this!  We will have NO deserters!, we are all in this winter chicken thing together…. There is no 'I' in team…..and so on and so forth..

But in all seriousness, one day of no turning will most likely not hurt.  My last hatch, I'm embarrassed to say….someone unplugged the turner in mid hatch, I did not notice for over a week….guess what?  still got chicks.  I wouldn't recommend this, as I'm sure my Irish Luck had a LOT to do with it, but I think for one day, they'll be ok.

She has a coop page on byc. I would give her a yell if you want some.

Please add me!!!!

I have added you to the list!

Ack. Just found out that our holiday plans may be changing. We weren't going to travel for the holidays, but now it looks as if we will. We'd be gone from home from the 20th till late on the 21st. My incubator doesn't have an automatic turner in it :/ Will it still be possible for me to incubate or should I sit this year out?

It will not be a problem!

Turning like we do is based on a British study from the 50s. Eggs will still hatch without turning them at all, The hatch rate will be lower though.

Turn the eggs just before you go and as soon as you get back.

It is great to have you hatching with us.

l join hatch along what do I need to do? this is my sons birthday I will have to to him how on dec 11 everyone3 will be setting hatch.

Set the eggs as close to Noon on the 11th as you can. Late on the 10th or early on the 12th is fine! Eggs do not hatch on a stop watch. There are Breed and incubation factors that will change the day and time that they hatch.

Are you joining us?

It will be so much fun!

What a nice holiday surprise! My duckies have been wiggling a couple days now but no real action yet. They aren't actually due until tomorrow though.

It is probably my spelling. I'll check when I'm out of bed. It's not yet 7 here. I'm sitting in bed listening to Danny boy tell me how awesome he is under the window
