I'm not an expert, but I remember seeing an article about some study where the most critical days for turning were days 4-7 , not sure where you not home days fall but you are only talking about 36 hrs so if you turn them right before you go, and right when you get back, there is a risk but it could be all fine too. If it was me I'd go for it, but not w/ really pricey eggs, you know, just in case. That's me YMMV...
Oh no. These are gonna be Barnyard Surprise eggs. I have four roosters, I have a dozen laying hens. Goodness knows what's gonna show up :D

And I've never actually raised baby chicks before, so I figure at worst, I'll get some barnyard mutts - cockerels for eatin' and pullets to go in the laying flock. My red girls are almost at the point of not laying anymore so I'd like to get a handful of pullets out of them if possible...this way I can learn for 'free' and if it works out I have a bonus!
