You can go ahead and add me. Hopefully our hens will lay some eggs in time. Will someone PM me and help me make an incubator? I want to do this as low cost as possible.

If you go to the COOPS tab at the top it has a section for incubators. The cooler type are easy and can be very inexpensive. That is what I made a couple months ago and it seems to be working good so far. I hatched a batch of my own eggs for test purposes and didn't do bad at all. Now I have ducks in there that are due right after Thanksgiving, and they are all alive, growing and kicking (literally) in their shells. The incubator couldn't be easier, there are loads of how-tos under the coop section on here and you can find lots with just a google search as well. I did mine entirely on my own and I am completely terrified of electricity

. So you know it had to be easy.

I've had at least 1 bator (& up to 5) running at all times since June 2012...lol

I HAVE to join!! I was planning on hatching anyways, so why not join a cause. LOL It will be a total hatch of Cochin Bantams here!! =) Add me to the addicts list.

Hey maybe we could hold EHA (Egg Hatchers Anonymous) meetings along with the hatchalong!

There is a thread already--Incubators anonymous. It did not help me though--They are very good enablers there....

Oh why not? I said my silkies would be my last hatch of the year - and they will be because these guys won't hatch till next year I'm in!

I would love to join this if I can manage to get some eggs at the right time to set for it. My first hatch-a-long was the November duck hatch-a-long and it has been a lot of fun getting to chat with other people all incubating and hatching at the same time. My duckies are due the day after Thanksgiving so the bator will be clear if I can just manage to get some eggs at the right time. Hmm, I just found someone who has Lavender Orps that only lives 30 miles from me. I may see if I can get some of those rather than trying to time the shipping right. Been wanting some of those gorgeous birds anyway.

Oh yeah….not sure if I've mentioned before, but, Orpingtons are the VERY best!

I took some pics of my one of my Black Pullet just this evening…the light was a bit off. And this girl has the oddest tail shape…I really must post her on the Orp thread and see what the experts thinkj.
