Yeah. Since my roo seems to not be 'roostering' just yet (he's still young), I'm going over to a neighbor's and collecting from her nest boxes the day before LOL.

Mine will be a surprise hatch as well. Hopefully. Lets see... We have red sex links, SLW, RID, dark Cornish or something like that, a few mutts, silkies, Cochins, and a whole bunch I can't think of right now. I think the 15 degree weather is freezing my brain. LOL. I'm going to go look at some DIY incubators and see what I come up with. Next year I really want to do some BBS and Lavendar orps, and quail, at least. A few turkeys would be great, not sure where they would live though LOL.

do you sell them straight run at hatch? and how do u advertise? craigslist?

I sell most straight run. Once they grow out a bit I can sex them. I advertise here, craigslist & word of mouth. I also go to swap meets March thru October & set up as a vendor.

Well one of the ladies that buys eggs from us said I could also use her incubator to hatch more than I was going to. I was going to hatch just one incubator full but now I will be doing two incubators. We have gotten so many customers buying eggs from us we are currently taking orders for eggs. All eggs are a couple weeks on hold..... So we need at least two incubators for more hens. Also instead of hatching just our barnyard mix we will be getting a couple dozen from a farm up the road to hatch. From what I seen they look to be mostly barred rocks.

I wasnt planning on hatching til February myself but I guess I will join in and see how my fertility is with the eggs I have been getting. Will be hatching out mostly EE,OE Barnyard mix and hopefully some sizzles.

Noon is a goal. I will set mine earlier--before heading off to work. If you need to set earlier or later do what is best for hatching the eggs.

You will have some very nice egg layers in that mix, along with some pets that go broody....
