5th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2014 Hatch-A-Long

It is the Black Friday blues :( I wont even attempt it the crowds aren't worth it. I ran to home depot for a few mins to get a few strands of Christmas lights and some SUPER HUGE ornaments for a tree outside, and the crowds were just crazy. I left a bag at checkout by accident. I called them and said hold it till tomorrow, I wasn't going back tonight.

I'll probably start Monday too for my Dorking eggs, maybe earlier. Want to get as many as possible from my pair to try and hatch. Other than that, I'll start collecting the other breeds probably the 4th or so.
That makes sense. I have 5 hens and am getting 3 per day from them.

Oh my gosh, my son works at a Chic-Fil-A in the local mall and I had to drop him off at 4:30pm this evening. Still no parking spots anywhere. I will NOT shop on Black Friday, people go crazy. I wanted to go to Tractor Supply today but I think it can wait until tomorrow.

Waiting impatiently for my incubator. It's somewhere between south west Washington state and me :p And I don't know where!

I suppose if fertile eggs hold for 10 days or so, I'll start saving my 'best' looking eggs aside starting the 1st and pick and choose between them on the 11th when I set.

If my bloody incubator gets here. Living out the sticks is sometimes a real PITA.

I was bad today. I stopped by the feed store to see if they had any eggs, well, they sold me 8 eggs. 3 chicken and 5 duck eggs. I still hadn't seen what a bullseye looks like on a fertile eggs. So I cracked open a duck egg and it was fertile! Halo and all, I got so excited I threw them in the bator! What In the world am I gonna a do with a duck? I seriously have mental problems

Yes, you have it bad!

You can sell the Ducklings on Craigs list.

I purchased my SFH eggs a few days ago and have made arrangements for them to be shipped on the 6th. So they should reach me by the 9th or 10th giving me time to allow them to settle and stabilize before set time. The Lav Orps I'll be picking up locally so will make arrangements for the exact day to pick them up when it gets a little bit closer.

Still sitting and staring at my ducky eggs willing them to do something.

This morning they were jumping and rocking pretty good and one is internally pipped. But no peeping and no external pips yet. I'm wondering if I should safehole the internally pipped one if it hasn't by bedtime... It pipped last night and I'm worried it will run out of oxygen in the air cell if it doesn't pip through the outer shell soon.
