5th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2014 Hatch-A-Long

Do you have one of these for chicken eggs?

I have a better one for chickens:

I just had porous lav orpington eggs just like that. They hatched out just fine for me a week ago

Since they were porous, I didn't candle/handle them as often. I have an automated turner in my incubator. Apparently bacteria and humidity can be an issue. Though I didn't keep an eye on humidity and they still hatched fine (they were even shipped!).
Yay! Thank you. This really makes me feel better about my eggs.

The ones tooo early for the hatch. They are Cochin bantams and 5 hatched yesterday, 6 today...I will be adding my standard size chicken eggs by the 11th for the hatch-a-long! Just had to show off my new babies!!!!

Top of the list of my favorite bantam. Loving that little blue right there. :) I have a little black cochin, that I call Charlie..she's a she..but she walks like Charlie Chaplin because of how thick her leg and foot feathering is. She's a sweetheart..of course.

OK I scored some Italian Speckled Cortunix quail on Ebay.

They won't be here until Saturday but that is about the right time to start quail for NY day.

Between them and the Olive Eggers from my girls this should be interesting. DH still doesn't know that I am going to incubate. He was grumbling about "foul fowl" again.
