Is anyone doing staggered hatching?

I usually do but probably not this time. I imagine I'll set all the eggs I have that are under 2 weeks so I'm sure I won't have a good rate. I don't raise them in the house so space will be at a premium outside. I have some culling to do as well as combining some flocks.
I have a homemade big cabinet combination incubator with 3 racks and hatcher in a separate compartment and a LG for backup. So staggered hatches are easy for me.

I was upset about eating roosters until I reflected on how happy their lives had been. They ran around having fun until they were no more. I'd rather that then most ways to go myself. Let alone what most food experiences. Your giving more joy then you are taking.

Good point.
For every extra roo hatched and eventually goes to freezer camp, that's one less miserable CornishX growing in a shed.

For every backyard hen, that's one less battery hen.

For those that can't or won't eat their chickens, at least get your birds from small holders and perhaps it will send a small message.

LOL I so wish I could. The only problem would be mean roosters.

You could always sell or rehome any cockerels you get...  Or send them to freezer camp... Just sayin...

Add the eggs as soon as they warm up to room Temperature. Let them rest in the incubator for the first 3 to 7 days, big end up with no turning. That allows the embryo to recover from shipping. Age of the egg is very important for shipped eggs.

Roosters can be sold on Craigs list and some feed stores will take them.

Give in to the temptation.....

We aren't aloud to have chickens, let alone roosters. We have a rooster now if anyone wants him.

my eggs are being shipped on tuesday, they are only comimg from a few states away so hopefully it will be an uneventful trip! so when I get the eggs candle them and then put them in an egg carton fat end up somewhere cool and let them rest for 24hrs? can i candle eggs with a bright flashlight? also I have a hovabator 1588 so I would appreciate suggestions
