It's December 11th and I don't have a single egg to set. It looks like I won't be hatching until January. Bummer...

I couldn't find any good pics but these will do . Here are pics of my "chicken village". 4 chicken coops and 1 tiny chick coop all together and a fence completely surrounds them all for their own chicken yard. Which helps for biosecurity reasons. I don't let anyone walk in my chicken yard.
Here is a front view, there are 2 coops to the left you cant really see in this pic


Here is a back view, there is one coop to the left you cant see(compost and some lattice are blocking it)

Nice! Quail are so teeny and cute.

I think it's a learning experience for all of us (most of us?) and EVERYbody loves sharing the knowledge they have.

I never would have thought I'd be on an internet forum sharing ideas and thoughts about chickens, hatching and incubators.. but here I am..

Same here! When I mentioned that I had joined an online forum my husband and daughters looked at me like I was a pod-person.

They were like "You?!? But you don't LIKE forums!"

Mine are set and ready to go!
4 Partridge Orpingtons, 6 Swedish Flower Hens, 7 Jubilee Orpingtons and 4 barnyard mixes.
My husband is a New Year's Day baby, so these are his presents.

Well my official count will be 35 eggs. 22 from my production reds and posably my gold laced cochin, 7 white leghorn, and 6 golden cuckoo maran. Bring on the EE's!!! I moved my bator down stairs the temp was down to 98.8, running living room hotter than that room since furnace is down for who knows how long we will be living in these two rooms. I may have to lower temp down some it's 99.7 now that its been down here for a few min. At least now I can just lean over and check them instead of going up stairs to do it. Any ways heres a pic of the eggs.

Ps don't mind the old wall paper this place is old and falling apart should be dozed down never should have bought it.

im so nervous these three weeks cant go by fast enough! i think i am going to put them into the incubator in an hour at noon. I candled and it was my first time candling but i saw air cells in all the eggs. One egg it looked like there were too air cells (like 2 smaller spots right next to each other) is there anything i can do for that egg? i wrote down which it was so i can keep an eye on it. im not going to touch them again until next week. i dont want to mess them up! this experience really teaches you how fragile life is...

oh also is there a certain way to orient the eggs in the incubator? like all clustered in the middle? around the edge? my temp seems to be consistent throughout

That is a good question!

Keep them towards the center but move them around when you candle so they are not in the same spot the whole time.

it really is!! my aunt has always had chickens (until the predators won) and my neighbors have had chickens for a few years now, but it really took me until i had my own that i was solely responsible for, to really appreciate them. now i sit outside for hours on my days off just watching them

Me too! I just sit on my lawn chair on a nice warm sunny day, with a good book and a drink right in the middle of the yard, while they free range all around me.

Okay, I had to set mine at 11:00 as I have somewhere to be at 12:00. My official count is 18 eggs. (9 Barred Hollands, 3 Mystery, & 6 BCM's). Let the fun begin!!
