5th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2014 Hatch-A-Long

Move away from the Bator! Rule number one is to leave it along for 24 hours and then adjust humidity if necessary.

It is probably fine. Like was posted earlier, the turner moves very slowly. It takes at least 10 hatches to burn one out.....
ok, so do not take any more water out till tomorrow around this time? the extra humidity on the first day wouldn't do much will it?

then for the turner....crazy question....haha
how many minutes do they take to turn to the other side? I thought they were fast!!! hahaha

I set my eggs today around 1pm. When the eggs started to warm up in the incubator, I noticed 2 eggs started seeping egg whites (not condensation). And one cracked. This has happened before when I had goose eggs shipped to me a year ago. Is this from pressure building up inside the eggs from rough shipping? Or could this be because they may have froze during their trip? They did not smell whatsoever so I don't think they were bad. They were both SLW eggs. I was hoping to get some SLW

I do have one SLW egg left. My BLRW and chocolates look okay. Here's a picture of one of the eggs that started to ooze and cracked, seemingly under pressure.

And here's the rest of the eggs in the incubator. They seem okay so far. Also, are wyandotte eggs suppose to be this light? I thought they were more brown? These are bantam wyandottes.

It probably had hairline cracks from shipping. Watch the rest of the eggs closely.

Yes, adjust if you need to tomorrow. One day out of 21 with high humidity will not harm the eggs.

The eggs have been in the incubator for 90 min now, and the temp is still only 97. How long will it take for it to come back up?

Move away from the bator too!

Do not adjust a previously stable incubator for 24 hours.

I set my eggs at 7 this morning and the spot check says it is at 98.7. I expect it will say 99.8 by tomorrow morning.

Good luck with your hatch!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. King Henry was THE top roo and didn't appreciate any of the other Roos messing with his girls. So yes, I expect he's the daddy of many of those eggs. He was part silkie and part EE, so his chicks often had mulberry combs, crest, muff or feathered legs, wacky but cute!

now I really cannot wait till hatching time......................
Please Chicken Gods...Let there be little King Henry's..............

I am sorry also for your loss............

We lost our Mr.Roo just from old age..I cried for what seems like forever.........
He was a big guy....if any young ones tried to mate his girls, he would calmly walk over and bump them off with his shoulder...........
It was very funny and affective...........
