Hi everyone. I'm loving all the info. on here. I do have a couple questions. Should I worry that with some of my eggs I can't see an air cell? They are dark to see into, but the other eggs that are the same breed I can see just fine. Are the darker ones not developing or is it just hard to see?

The shells must be thicker or harder to see into.

Make sure you do not have them up side down though. I have done that before. Sometimes it is hard to tell. Check the other end for an air cell.

My ladies finished up there last day of school today until next year.... I am done with work until January 2nd, and now I am facing the rest of the incubation with nothing to distract me!!

I hope these next few weeks go fast. I found myself pacing today thinking about those eggs. LOL I never would have thought it would be like this.

Ok. Thank you. I plan to just leave them because last time I hatched i culled some that I thought were dark nand dead and there were baby chicks in them.

I understand the wait. These next two weeks are going to last forever, but it's so nice to have a break.

Hey ya'll, I need help.

I had problems with humidity being way too high for the first five days. I was advised to remove all water and go dry for a few days. Humidity has been at 16% for two days.

Today is day 7. I candled, and traced the air cells with a pencil (not sure if that was ok to do, but hadn't come across a post that said it wasn't). I think my air cells are too small, based on the reference picture located in post #1. I'm posting some pics of the traced air cells, hoping someone could tell me if they are too small.

I'm down to 7 eggs out of 10. I knew #'s 8 and 9 were clears, had movement in the rest, until today...egg #6 is still. No movement. So I think it's a quitter, but leaving it just in case.

Here's the pics:

This is the one with no movement. Is that dark ring a "blood ring"?

Morning' fellow chicken addicts! I have a couple questions.
My hubs is an OTR truck driver so he goes all over. We live in rural Georgia so getting eggs, chicks, etc is pretty limited. If he were to pick up chicks and bring them home would they do okay? And if he's in y'all's area would you be willing to meet him? Since he obviously can't drive a semi most places not on a main road.
sure sounds like a great idea. I have some heritage rhode island red eggs in north east tx. when he comes through I could send some. they will do well because he will not slam and drop them like the post office does. :)
