That is an awesome video!

I did my 10 day candling and pulled out 5 eggs. One looks iffy but the rest should hatch! That leaves 7 in the incubator

Were these your own, or shipped? I can't remember, sorry

Pozees...I lived there from 1996-98 while I was finishing up my BSN degree at USC! (I got tired of driving down from the Springs in the winter!) It was a nice little town to live in, but it was VERY windy all the time. I lived over by the fair grounds. Dh proposed to me in Pueblo.

How long have you lived there?

This is a test hatch--Crele pene cockerel with Cream Legbar x Crele Penedesenca Olive Eggers. It was the first time he was with them so I expected some clears. I am very happy with him so far.

I just took out my 2 clears. one was not fertile and the other was scrambled :/ but all my other eggs look really good! except now I can't see into the green eggs. but they are dark with good air cells

...

I received my two thermometers from ThermoWorks last night, checked them in an ice bath, and placed them into ventilation holes in the two styro bators, had to make small adjustments to temp, but nothing like the 2.5 degrees off I had before.

...
I am feeling much better about hatching now that my temps seem to be more in line. I also put a humidifier in the room, I figure it can only help, it is so dry here.

...
Very cool. I'm much more confident with multiple thermometers that agree.

Amen! The lack of eggs doesn't bother me as much as my seasonal mood issues do when it is so dark and cold out! And once we get past NYD, I am grumpy for two months...but at least I can be excited about the increase in light again.

Bring on the Easter hatch-a-long!!!

Actually, if I end up with dozens of chickies that I was not anticipating, I may never need to hatch again.

Build more coops.

X2 I thought the same thing! There is no such thing as "never need to hatch again" LOL

Possible reasons to hatch include:

I wonder what that cross would look like?
I will need more layers next year when this year's girls taper off
Whatever I don't keep I'm sure someone will want
I just want to see if they'll hatch
I need to test my incubator since I cleaned it
I need a project
I need some chicks to take adorable pictures of
I need a reason to keep leaving the room while the company is here

Just a few of the countless reasons to hatch :)
Hatch a lot. Cull hard. Improve the breed or at least their vigor.

Look what I found. Big enough to hold @ least 4 tuners,if i do it right.. Not sure if I want to wait and invest a little into an incu-kit Just like on the digital incubators like my Genesis Or do it cheaper and do the water heater thermostat,Could still make a small hatcher on the bottom,Score, its like x-mas,,WAI
Peace...
