They are almost impossible from shipped eggs, so I really hope your remaining one hatches for you.

Thinking of you.  Were you able to press charges against the people who did this? 



I have 4 eggs that have really dark shells. So ffar I can not see a thing with the flashlight that I have used to candle in the past.  I can see into my RIR eggs with the flashlight but their shell is light brown.  Any recommendations for a good but cheap candler?

They smashed my game cams so I have no proof law wise that they did it.

the mini mag with the black ring is what I have It worked so well all last summer with the production red's brown eggs. But now I have a red sex link that lays the darkest brown eggs I have seen in person. And while the chicks would be mutts, I still want to be able to see in.

That stinks about the cameras. Adds insult to injury since they also cost money to replace. Right now I don't have any chicks to share. In a few months I'll have lots of hens laying but not breeder quality fertile eggs, just backyard mutts to hatch.
Would there be some kind of insurance you could purchase to cover such a large operation, or at least the security and game cameras?

Where we live now I have security our landlord lives right behind us and will shoot anyone that messes with our stuff lol. And 4 dogs. Doesn't do whole lot for what we've lost but it does help secure what's to come

Oh, BTW....the egg that I accidentally cracked and then glazed with super glue is one of the ones that is growing strong....who knew.....curious to see she makes it all the way thru to hatch.....if she does I'll have to name her lucky....

I candled today and tossed 3 clear s out. of 17 started I now have 14 heritage reds growing. looking for a great hatch I have changed my hatching a bit trying a dry hatch my humidity is around 20 - 25% but at least once and most days morning and evening I mist the eggs with hot water my air cells look very good we will see. happy winter solitace and merry Christmas to all.

Day 10 candle results are 28 out of 34 (set 38 originally, tossed 4 clears day 7) are moving around like crazy. 5 getting darker, but couldn't see movement. 1 is questionable for a quitter. I'll check it again tomorrow.

My big question is this: what are lethal temperatures? Mine keep spiking to close to 102 for various reasons (humidity got very low, accidentally left the heater on in the bathroom where the incubator lives, etc.). This has happened a few times today and I'm very worried. Also, my water wiggler temperature changes very quickly - I thought the interior temp of the eggs is supposed to be more stable than the air temp?

Tonight I removed 2 clears, and 1 that had died yesterday, I think. My husband thinks I'm gross but I like to eggtopsy. The developmental stages are so cool to evaluate, once you get over the gross factor. I'm pretty immune to it by now. It was bright red, had huge eyes, a fleshy beak(it's mouth was open so obviously it could open and close it),& tiny flippers for feet and wings. So, there ya go folks, that's what's in your eggs right now, for anyone who may have been wondering.

Now, off to bed..Kids Christmas play/musical to help out with first thing in the morning...I'm beat!
