5th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2014 Hatch-A-Long

I will take some ebay specials,, i would have nothin but hatcher birds if not,, When you 4000 mile from birdland,, Then you go with what you got,, I am in Fairbanks Alaska, end of the line..i mean i hear of a gal about 150 mile north of here near the Arctic Circle ,raising birds. there was no egg availible come feb, march last spring when I wanted to fire my new incubator up. Now I got facebook groups,,I will not have to rely on ebay. I have a few bad experiences but I got some great birds..Which now I am setting their eggs.If you can get them without shipping,,Then Sweet<<<Me,, I will take those shipped eggs,,only the strong survive anyway,,, hope get some good hatch rate with whats left..Peace,,,

I always wanted to move up there or at least see it. So you buy the plane ticket and i'll bring the hatching eggs. lol

Happy to hear about all the little jumping beans! I hope some of mine are jumping beans. Can't see a blasted thing. I need to go calculate when my lockdown date is. I set mine a little before midnight on the 10th, so it's a smidge earlier than some. Should I line the tray with paper towels or something so they have some traction and to control the gick? I have never seen a hatching, but birth is pretty gicky, so I am assuming hatching is, as well. (Yeah, yeah, birth is beautiful and all of that, but at 3 in the morning on a cold January morning in the sheep barn when the smell of amniotic fluid won't wash off your hands, it's gicky.)

No stinkers, yet, that I can detect. Hopefully, no bombs. C'mon little chickies!

Georgia weather SUCKS! It's 70 something degrees outside and pouring down rain. Ugh! My silkie who went broody exactly a week after I set my bator just tried to kill me when I went to get her water. She's so crabby! My silkie who hatched her babies on Thanksgiving is now in an empty rabbit hutch and seems to think I'm gonna steal the chicks when I come out to feed them. My chickens have gone insane!

We have a random post contest running now.

are you choosing now, or is it still running?

if so, good luck everyone!!!
