I had 5 more when I woke up today, and have watched 2 more unzip and hatch while I had coffee. Now it is time to go feed the 100+ parents I have outside waiting on there morning crack corn and pellets. See you all back in 2 hours.

I wait until day23, just in case they are late bloomers.

If you have chicks to remove, candle the unpipped eggs at that time and see if there is any movement.  If there are no chicks and no other pips I would probably go ahead and candle quickly and make sure there's plenty of warmed water on hand in a spray bottle in case there is a pip you hadn't seen.  If the chicks inside the eggs are still moving, put on your patience hat and make sure your water reservoirs are full

okay I guess the waiting game begins! ill move all my chicks to the brooder at once and candle then.

Here is the four I have hatched out. I have 2 more eggs that made it to lock down. I think one is a quitter and the other is a maybe I can see movement in there. These are a cross between a RIR hen and HRIR roo.

Oooo I heard my first peep coming from an egg!!!

Still only 2 pips, one of them is rocking up a storm! Hoping I get a zip soon...although I know it can be a while (24 hours seems so long to wait!!!!), I'm hoping....

Hubby is home from work today, kids don't go back to school until Monday...I pray at least ONE of the pippers hatches today because hubby goes back to work tomorrow. Maybe if he sees the miracle of a fuzzy butt hatching out of an egg, I'll have less eye rolling and more support when I talk about my chickies!!! Here to hoping!

Finally took some pics of the pipped eggs...moved the bator from my bedroom to the dining room table, that way my boys, mom, and I can watch without fear of waking Sleeping Beauty up (that would be the hubbs)

Morning, peeps! I woke up to 7 chicks at 4 am and an 8th a half hour later with one more pipped The one that pipped the wrong end of the egg made it out fine all by itself, which makes me very happy indeed.

YAY!!!!

That's nice to wake up to! I'm at 5 out - only managed to sleep through one. Another is at 'late zip' now, but as of a few minutes ago, I can't see it because it has Larry, Moe & Curly piled up on top of it. Two other pips that I know of - getting hard to tell again because of the rolling & debris. The good news is, there's rocking from the small one that almost didn't stay in for lockdown!
