6 Aussie puppys doing good, Bandit is now forsale!!

no, but it is often associated with deafness. Not always. And they can be deaf in only one ear, sometimes the one that is white. Eye problems are sometimes visible when their eyes develop and open and one looks smaller than the other. At this point, just flow with it. Worry about problems when you see problems, don't go looking for them. They will be apparent way before you sell puppies when the time comes. Just enjoy them for now.

Don't forget sometimes the humane society will help cover part of the costs to have a pet spayed or neutered. They figure it is worth it to avoid unplanned pregnancies.

Congrats on the puppies and pictures pictures please.

I'm praying for you to have a litter of beautiful healthy pups!! Good luck, and I hope we see pics soon of the little ones!!

Thanks.. I had planned on raising Aussies with this female, however I didnt want this pregnancy to happen because of the possible health issues. The daddy is not even a year old now, we kept them sepearate her whole heat and thought she was going out and wasn't as picky on watching and well you know the rest of the story. I was goin to have her fixed because of me being scared of the health issues and called and no one could get her in for 4 weeks and I just couldnt stand the thought of possible healthy puppies being discoverd when they did it..

I now have 2 males 2 females..
one red female, one blue merle male, and a male and female that are blue merle with alot of white on their faces and legs and belly but from shoulder back are merle so we're hoping HEALTY PUPPIES!!! Not sure if she is finished I'm at work this is killing me not being there!! AHHHH

Please don't kill the puppies simply because they are homozygous merles. The most common issue with homozygous merles is simply microphthalmia. And that is not all that common. The defects are greatly orverstated. Some people are actually breeding for the colors of heavy merling found in homozygous pairings. Simply killing the dog without even knowing if there is any defect is just wasteful and cruel. I can't believe anyone with a heart would do that.

If you have any homozygous merles (lethal whites) the risk of defect is still small, and usually is simply that one eye is smaller than the other one (microphthalmia). If there is some other issue such as partial blindness or deafness, the animal is still viable. Many, many animals and humans live with defects unrelated to merling at all. Destroying one without even knowing if there is a problem is a waste. Statistically, the chances are that your puppies are just fine whether or not they are double merles.
