I’m wonder if 6 months is too old for tender meat?

That is a bit of luck! IMO tender meat is more a matter of how it is prepared, stored, and your definition of 'tender'.
And then... You cannot go too wrong with a deal like this because there are plenty more ways to use them dead or alive even older.

With most chickens, it's better to do them at a younger age, but the meat from these birds should be tasty. Just not quite as tender

Agree completely. They'll be far to tough to fry or grill. But will be fine for soup, crock pot, or very slow roasting.
