6 week old buff orpington. Sex?

I have found Fernie's method to be the most accurate so far but I can't remember what the earliest age is to be able to tell on a bantam Cochin. Does anyone know?

So far I have been 100% but some of that has to be breed related and luck.

I have orps and I have two that have nubs that haven't got any bigger as a nub. I've seen both lay eggs. English orps have red waddles (which doesn't help us at all). The saddle feathers have been a God send for me. If they are long and skinny = roo, if they are rounded and fat = pullet.
Good Luck!

By 22 weeks there definately should be a noticable spur bump. I did say to run the hands down the legs to feel for the spur bump. I have had orps before and am not new to poultry. Combs and wattles are just as definative as feeling for the spur bumps.

Except for the cockerels who don't ever develop spurs and the pullets who do.........because of this variance I find the presence/absence of spurs or spur bumps to be entirely unreliable for gender evaluation.
