Here's Nugget, my 6.3 week old RIR chick. All my chicks were sexed as pullets. She/he was the fastest of my 3 RIR to feather out. For some reason, comb and wattle colors DO change from a light yellow, to a light pink. When I picked her up for photos, her comb was a light yellow. But within 3 minutes, it turned to this color. Almost like her comb displays her mood, and this time she was mad. lol. Most of the time the wattles are orange/yellow. Her comb is never a dark pink. These pictures show her comb as a light pink/orange, but it' more yellow. Nugget is a little skittish, and doesn't enjoy being held or kept away from her friends for more than a minute. She/he definitely isn't top of the pecking order. Another thing is her tail DOES have a curved feather....though it isn't THAT noticeable, it is there. Her hackle/saddle feathers aren't fully developed yet, I'd say she has another week to go before her feathers are full size. At the moment they don't look pointy, more round. If Nugget checks out as a pullet, then my others are indeed....pullets. Thanks!
This pic makes it look really pink...
