My 6 chicks are all doing great but they seem to like to sleep in the nesting box. Should I close it off for now? They have a 8 ft long rafter as well as a 2x4 in the middle of the coop about half way up the wall to sleep in. Is this normal because they are young? Here's some pics of the coop I made

I'd be interested in the answer to this my 5 week old chicks are all in the nesting box together and there is plenty of too in the coop but I put a lamp in one. I'm in Wisconsin and it still gets into the 49 s at night

I'd personally close it off. At sundown when they have settled for the night, I'd also move them to where I want them to start roosting. Just be sure that they can actually reach the roosts! A couple of nights of this and they should start getting it on their own.
