We suspect Cookie is a boy and Oreo is a girl. They are brother and sister.

Agreed, but post again in a few weeks, Oreo could be a pullet.Don't shoot the messenger, but I think both are males.
Just curious, reasoning? Oreo had feathers much sooner than Cookie. Cookie has irradecent green/purple feathers. Also their mom had 5 toes and black eyes and Oreo has black eyes and 5 toes. Cookie has light eyes and 4 toes like dad.Don't shoot the messenger, but I think both are males.
Interesting! I didn't know that! Oreo is my only 5 toed chicken.5 toes is a dominant trait, with 4 toes being recessive.
Wouldn't their wattles be the same size if they were both boys? Oreo had feathers long before Cookie and only recently developed any kind of wattle. Maybe Oreo is a slow developing cockerel? If they’re a marans mix both genders get iridescent feathers. For six weeks Oreo has big waddles. My marans mix pullets don’t have and waddles to speak of. But she could still be a girl. Many of my EEs couldn’t be sexed until their gender specific feathers came in.
I had two OEs that were both boys and one I didn’t know was boy until its male feathers came in. The other i suspected right away because it had early comb and waddle development. I think it depends on the mix and since they're mixed the traits can go either way. My OE eggs were from the same person, she told me the rooster was the same but different hens i guess, but the chicks look totally different.Wouldn't their wattles be the same size if they were both boys?
