6 Wk Cochin Pullet?

She/He is good. Shes been enjoying the warm weather and abundance of tasty bugs. Still has me puzzling about gender though.

I'm going against the consensus and say you have a pullet. Just because her wattles are showing doesn't mean it's a positive roo. Cochin hens do get the wattles too, just not so prominent. Please keep us updated on her.

Alright we're at 8 weeks. Still looks pretty red but not big...hmmm

OK some updated pictures. S/he's now 9 weeks and while that comb doesn't seem to have gotten bigger it is still very red. :( No hackle or saddle feather development yet though.

(Please don't mind my toes. lol She didn't like being away from her flock so she kept trying to hide/cuddle)

I think it's a pullet! Look how round the body is and the comb/wattles are unchanged from two weeks ago (when a cockerel would be growing his).

I'm still leaning towards girls but the reddening makes me suspicious...
Yeah....if she wasn't so darned red I wouldn't be so worried...

That's what I was thinking too but since this is my first cochin I'm unsure how round and poofy the males get. Also she/he is in with 2 very bossy cockerels so if it is a male then if he's not as dominate I was thinking maybe he wouldn't develop as fast....

If only buying sexed chicks was 100% accurate! I'm starting to think even if it is a boy I might see if I can convince hubby to let me keep him. Doubt he'll budge but maybe.....
