I know some pullets of this breed and similar breeds with multiple colors will appear to look like a rooster, but it appears that you have a young pullet. As for the tail that stands like this, it is common for hens of a lightweight breed. My 26 week old (a little over 6 months) Speckled Sussex doesn't crow or lay eggs. Her stance is very rooster-like, and tail feathers ornate, and I can't find enough consistent pictures online of Speckled Sussex tails to give me a definitive answer - I seem to find a little of everything when I look up Speckled Sussex. Her tail feathers are pointy with some draping saddle-like feathers, but her waddle is not huge or anything else compared to my other gals. What do you think: hen or roo?
