Well I finally made it over here to officially say I'm in! I think I might split up the eggs to half duck and half trader joes fertile eggs.

What breeds come in the trader joes cartons? I've been really wanting to try that and this might be my excuse! If I can find a trader joes within a decent drive distance to pick some up. I've read that not all TJ carry fertile eggs

Leghorns, California Whites, Austrawhites No guarantee what the carton will hold.

(Hint: Ask a TJ's clerk if they've got anything fresher in the back...there's usually a case that has come in just sitting there, but they want to sell all the week-old and 10-day-old merchandise first.)
(second Hint: Try to get the eggs with the date NOT stamped on the shell... I've found the ones with the red lettering on the shell have a lower hatch rate)

Yay! Now I just have to find local eggs! It'd be difficult I think to get them shipped and have them arrive on the right date.

I was thinking of putting a sign or something up on one of the local bulletin boards "looking for fertile eggs to hatch"... And see if any come my way. I know there are lots of different kinds of chickens here silkies, coachins, etc and ducks, Muscovoys and harlequins... Now I just need someone to give me eggs ( or trade )

That's a good idea. I've placed ads on craigslist but had no luck. I'm not sure where around here I'd find public bulletin boards. I'm still new to the area. I'd love to find cochins. Or sebrights. But I will probably have to settle for something pretty standard.

Wow!! That's fantastic. Thank you!! I've never lived anywhere with a population of more than 300 before. I'm used to knowing where everything is or knowing the right people to ask

I'm just getting a used but still working little giant I think. Square foam one that are sold in tractor supply. That should work until I can build my cabinet one

That's what I have...standard school issue( I am a teacher) and they have worked great for me so far
