Not long maybe a few days (2-3).

Hmmmm same with mine but the one never started....my breeder had told me once the male eggs die in refrigeration so the eggs that hatch will all be females...maybe mine was a male? The one fridge egg i had hatch was a female. But i have no idea i doubt it

The little kissy/pecky chick in my avatar is a Trader Joe's egg that was 8 days in the fridge section of the store when I set it.   Amazing that she hatched out as she was washed, stamped on the shell with an expiry date, shipped and chilled.  Hatched on New Year's Day a couple of years ago during one of the HALs.

Did you end up getting any roos from that hatch??

I know store eggs have a little more of a resistance to the cold bc of all the stuff put in them

The 24 eggs I set from TJs for our hatch a long did not have a stamp on them. I did hatch 3 out of 12 a couple of years ago. I rehomed them but this is one of the pullets, the two on the right:


Ths is one of them at their new home.

I think if what your breeder said was true, everyone would be refrigerating before setting eggs(I know I would). I don't know, it would be interesting to know if anyone else has heard this or if anyone has hatched out any roosters that were refrigerated.

I don't know what happened to the quote or if the question got answered but ducks tend to lay less eggs per year than the average chicken breed but it depends on the breed of duck some lay a good amount of eggs if I remember correctly but I don't think any lay daily all year...??

Then the other 24 were roosters? lol

I'll let you know after the HAL since I refrigerated all of my eggs before hand.

My last hatch where all fridge eggs, I set 19 and 9 hatched... A bunch from my old hens eggs where infertile, one ringed out two got shrink wrapped at hatch.
