Ok..this is getting crazy...we are either going to have to play the quiet game...or 1 of u astro nerds will need to start a hatch along chat thread...when i candle these alligator eggs and get bit.....it will take yall 2 days to catch up enough to call 911 for me

I am so so sorry - I thought you were kidding earlier. I didn't realize you had stored your eggs in the fridge. I thought you were responding to Ron's response, not realizing he was talking about cold storing after 14 days. So that is why I thought it was funny...

Some of our bantam eggs appear to be clear. But we were taking a shot in the dark with them because some of the hens didn't care for that little roos romantic advances. But at least we have some. We just can't get enough of those sweet little chickies!

And a LOT of the Buff Orpington eggs are fertile and a few of the RIR. These eggs were given to us and the RIR hens hadn't even been with a roo for a bit. So glad there is 3 out of 5 showing veins.

My DH hasn't been into the chicken room (one of the guest rooms that got taken over by the incubator and subsequent brooder) in ages.  I told him I was getting into the NYD Hatch-Along and he asked how many eggs I set as I had mentioned I had room for 4 to 6 more hens.  "Uhhhm.... Some?"   He doesn't realize I've ordered yet another incubator (for hatching) and have two going right now, plus I have two brooder setups.  

Some doors are best left unopened.....

Wow I think I'm in the minority by not candling early! I just know if I start early I will find every reason to candle every other day. So I just have to stop myself every time I walk past the bators

I've never shipped eggs but if you are interested in LF bbs orps or Buff Brahmas I'd send you some. I've received shipped eggs so I think I can pack them fine just haven't been through the shipping process.

Well, while I was turning the eggs tonight, I gave in and (for educational purposes!), I decided to candle one of them. My DH was watching and picked one...I did a quick candle and it has veins!!!!!!

These were the shipped eggs that took from Monday to Friday to reach me. It's a long way to go, but I'm happy that at least one of my eggs is giving it the ole college try.

So happy dance for this first time hatcher.
