GM! This is what I woke up too. One hatched about 30 min ago and the others are pending. I give them 3 days.

Thanks! These are quail. Your standard quail. Button quail I think.

Cute! I did some button quail once. They pop around like popcorn when you put your hand in there to try and catch them when they are little. They can scurry!

You can say the same thing about when they hatch!

It's particularly hard to tell if it's a dark egg and you cannot get a good candling to tell....

I have some dark green eggs in that are showing..I will have to try and get some photos tonight. You probably already know, to look real close at the bottom where the air sac is, sometimes you can see that dark shadow move.

Well it only took me hours to catch up haha that's what I get for not checking the HAL forum for two days...two hundred seventy something posts

I candled last night and all 29 are still going strong!

How weird would it be to get a 100% hatch rate for my first hatch??

I cant wait till the babys hatch!! last night when I candled my son was with me to look and see the babys this morning I got up and he had been out to collect the egg and say good morning to the chickens already

You mentioned straight on the side not being good, but the Brinsea Mini has them on their side, is there a higher percentage of piping on the wrong end with the Mini?

The eggs should slightly tilt up for lockdown. It is not so much that they will pip at the wrong end but that they may pip into a vein or liquid when the internally pip--pip the membrane several days before hatching.
