I agree, I try not go over 68%. I like to keep lockdown temp around 62-68%... roughly.
QUick question? Is 80-85 % humidity for lock down to high.
Love those Olive eggs..do you have your own chickens.. I ask because those nice looking air sacs don't look like most shipped egg air sacs.Okay!! I'm officially locked down!! I feel really great about how I arranged everything this hatch- I should be able to access all water channels without having to open and I can clearly see all my numbers through the windows.
I marked air sacs, and those that already started to draw to one side I marked with an x the lowest point to see how close they pip there.
I also accidentally turned the eat UP before church instead of down
.. But we were only gone a couple hours so hopefully no harm done. Stupid bator, why can't it follow the radio rule of adjustment!?!?![]()
Humidity is around 45-50 today. Think I will wait until tomorrow to bump on up to 60/65..
Do you have any jays in your area? The stellar jays here can mimic a predatory bird scream almost perfectly....and they like to do it all the time. We have a crazy amount of large predatory birds here too so the silly jays end up fooling me at least once a day haha.Going to candle tonight. Then, set them where I want them after penciling. They will pretty much be in lock down, but I do open the bator off and on during day 18 to get that humidity right. Really excited for the small sizzle eggs..all that I had shipped to me are viable..there are 8. Lock down is a scary time for those little eggs, I will be watching that humidity like a hawk!
Speaking of hawks, heard one out there screeching this morning, and my girls are out and about on the paths through the snow that my DH shoveled for them and the dogs. Got my Golden R. out there to roam around for a while. I hear this bird screeching often, not sure if it is a small hawk...coopers..or a falcon. It sounds small. I may have to keep my hens in the run for a couple of days.
Thanks! They are actually more of a blue-to-green color but I did notice this pic pulled green like whoa. The birds are in my flock so yes, much nicer than shipped! I want to try shipped eggs again.. Had terrible luck last summer with them, by fault of my skills lol.Love those Olive eggs..do you have your own chickens.. I have only seen one blue jay up in the foothills close to a canyon. We are actually close to a canyon, but not as close as to the one where I saw this bird. Didn't know they screeched like that. I will try and see it, I never can find it. Too many trees for it to hide in. I realize the hawk will more than likely be at the top of a tree, easy to spot..so you may be on to something. We have noticed woodpeckers though this yr.! They are eating the old apples left on our apple trees. It might just be the same two we are seeing..they could be staying in this area. The bigger wood pecker..we see smaller ones in the summer. Don't worry so much about them.Do you have any jays in your area? What color of brahmas? They are big birds. Very pretty. I got the Silver Penciled once. Gorgeous. Congrats on the egg..more to come! Thanks! I got an egg today I've waited MONTHS for.. From my BRAHMA pen!!! They quit on me in the fall and looks like someone decided it's okay to start back. I tossed it in with the eggs I set last night, of course.![]()
