How weird would it be to get a 100% hatch rate for my first hatch??

LOL I started off this morning at 2:30 am with 586 unread posts! It's 8:24 am now. Finally! I'm caught up!!!

Ready for this Roan? If anyone wants me to do one, just ask, I have fun with them.

That is awesome!!! Thank you very much! I'll change it when I'm done replying!

While I was shocked, scared, sick, husband was just in wonder and happy with the news and started right away talking about baby names. LOL

Sweet!!! Name him after the very first rooster you ever named.

I am getting extremely eggcited!! my son has taken to sleeping on the couch by the incubator I think he wants to be the first one to know when they hatch!

That is so great!!! I wish my daughter showed such interest but nooo, "chickens are not cool!" <sigh> My grandson loves when I incubate though!!!

lol! So, day 1 is actually a day after setting, not the day of setting? And Lockdown is not tomorrow, but the next day?

Actually, that's not necessarily true, if the day is halfway over, you would not count it as day one but I don't think one day would make that much of a difference.
Dec. 11th at noon day 0
Dec. 12th at noon day 1
Dec. 13th at noon day 2
" " " "
Dec. 29th at noon day 18------------ LOCK DOWN
Dec. 30th at noon day 19
Dec. 31st at noon day 20
Jan. 1st at noon day 21------------- HATCH DAY

I hate math....I got to see it

Oh, this is a very good chart indeed! If, of course, the eggs were set after noon on day 11.

Feed stores sometimes don't know what they are talking about. I went to a nearby one because I didn't want to drive one day, I asked the guy for some flock feed, and he gave me scratch grains.

The person I got some of my eggs for this HAL from said they feed their hens meat.

Both of the turkey carcasses from Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner went to the chickens first to be picked clean, then the bones given to the dogs.

Stupid auto correct...better half

Here's what you do, picture your wife with either a rolling pin or cast iron skillet standing right behind you and watching what you type, I'll bet your "auto correct" will work better then! lol

So close!

So close! (I looked at the eggs, Bama, twice) Humidity is a tad high, 78%. But I'd have to take out all the eggs to drain the channels. I should have just used little dishes. Oh well. Note to self for DIY incubator design: make it easy to adjust humidity levels!

edit: made this to keep from hovering around the incubator:

Now all you need is a change machine next to the jar! lol

Biggest hatching dream to date last night.. I had one of those octagon bators on the counter.. Was telling y'all it was just one more day.. Went back and EVERYTHING had hatched. I was in disbelief! Some chicks were huge.. One egg had twins which were tiny, like pencil erasers lol.

Another four on the counter (which I had apparently pulled days ago) were hatching, along with one I had dissolved in vinegar. I kept trying to take pics for y'all but my phone wouldn't work!

Morning everyone.

The weirdest chicken dream I'd ever had was that they were actually rabbits and they laid rubber eggs that I kept dropping. The nightmare element was that I had to try to catch all of these bouncing eggs. It was horrible! lol

Okay, so I've noticed something. I got busy doing something the other day, then, three days later, I realized that I hadn't checked the HAL thread!!! Doh! 586 unread posts???

So my observation is this; time is like a wild bird. If you don't cage it and fasten the door very tight, it will fly away from you before you know it!

I would love some batam cochin or even some colored eggs (blues and greens :) ) and have already told hubby i want chocolate eggs for valentines day lol. Chocolate orps of coarse lol Id really like to try some turkey eggs this spring too!
Its hubbys fault he enabled me with this for christmas lol

:drool Very Nice!

So glad to see that the madness I started 6 years ago continues.  HAPPY HATCHING Y'ALL!

This is all your fault!? Why Thank You! :bow

Good Morning / Night everyone. My goal for the day: Don't Touch the Bator. 1st hour accomplished.

(Temp and humidity look good, no pips)

Ok, so now I know that I can no longer drink coffee or anything actually while reading y'all's posts. Roan, 1 & 2 nearly drowned my laptop and 3, well duh!

I thought I would post a picture of how I hatch my eggs. I take the racks off the turner and set back in the incubator. They hatch well for me that way. I also put a water bottle in as a heat sink to help heat stay constant at hatch.

That's a neat idea to use the turner racks. Still, nothing like just tossing the egg cartons. No washing.
