6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

for those of you that hatch in the cartons, can styrofoam cartons be used or just the cardboard ones? I have hatched in the cardboard ones and liked it, but I have lots of styrofoam cartons I don't need.

Yes, you can use foam egg cartons. I have a set of hatching trays made of plastic. One problem with them is that little breeds can get stuck in them.

I found that the cardboard cartons absorb too much humidity... it's why I always used styrofoam

That's a good idea. My cardboard egg carton got wet I didn't notice and the humidity went up a bit too high... Next time styrofoam

I wipe the bottom of the wire with paper towels to make sure they is not water there to wick up into the paper carton.

I did have them get wet once years ago.
