6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

Speaking of ducks:

So my mother decided that since my grandson loves it when Geepa (that's me) has baby chicks, she would buy him a couple ducklings to help take care of.

He lives with me so he'd be here the whole time until they're grown. Well, at the time she bought the ducklings, I had 8 chicks in the brooder, so I put the ducklings in with the chicks.

Sadly, one of them died later when I took them out. Apparently, it had gotten too chilled. The other one, however, grew to adult with her rooster and hen brothers and sisters. She is the only duck we have so she has no one to mate with. But that doesn't matter to her or to our rooster. He mounts her every chance he gets and she stays right at his side, often times chasing the hens away if they get too close to him.

I think she needs therapy.

$10 per day fine for early/ late starts.

Well, I've located a few Brahma hatching eggs, but still need to track down some Dorkings for the hatch-a-long! At least I'll have something in my 'bator, lol.
