6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

I found a better candling picture. This is from my first hatch of Arkansas Blues. It is much clearer and yes, it did hatch just fine! even though it is a bit porous.

Not sure who's more excited me, or my toddler... Showed him some videos of chicks hatching yesterday he keeps asking if the eggs are done...
Ron have you ever seen a porous egg seep? One of the older EE eggs is seeping whites through it pours, i'm assuming it's no good... But I'm gonna leave it to the fifth day and candle anyway...

Yes but they are usually shipped eggs.

It also happens with spoiled eggs. Use the sniff test to make sure they are ok!

It's not spoiled... It has zero smell... Any chance it will hatch?

Oh also I candled it and its still clear, I can kind of tell where the yoke is.

The egg goo can mess up the hatch so I usually toss them when they seep. Keep it away from the others and clean up the goo. Does your incubator have foam inserts? They will need to be washed if so.

How cute! I think hatching eggs is such a wonderful learning experience for kids

No inserts. I'll wash it up and give it a chance... Just because that hen is dead now, I'm strangely attached to these last 3 eggs... Be highly unlikely any are viable but we shall see on the 18th...
Thanks again Ron

:lau :gig   I am proud to be weird.  Normal is way overrated.  :thumbsup
