I ordered a dozen Silkie eggs today! I'm not sure how the timing will work out for the hatch a long, I guess it depends on what day they ship. I am feeling pretty jealous of anyone living in a warm enough climate to be getting eggs right now... I don't know how I am going to wait another 2 to 3 more months for all of my birds to start laying...

Where did you order them from? The last I saw it was like $50 shipping and handling! I have fertilized eggs too if you want some! I just dont have an incubator and my broody hen just hatched her chick this morning.

Ooohhh man. My incubator arrived today!!! I'm Soo excited!

I've been following along for learning purposes and will stay tuned even if I can't join.

We are getting no eggs. An unfortunate disease has put us in the position of 'depopulating' our flock. We chose to hang on to enough breeders to continue the progress we've made on our lines -the disease is not passed vertically (to the chick in the egg). After hatching we need to keep the new birds in new coops on virgin soil and cull the rest of our birds. It's quite the heart ache, but this is what we've got to do. So now the problem is...nobody is laying. Arrrrgh!

Day 3 of collecting eggs 14 now. I have 15 hens and only a few eggs a day. Temps have been kinda crazy. Freezing one or two days then mid to upper 60s and now about 40 for daytime highs. At the end of October I was getting about a dozen a day.
