6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

Lavendar often looks the same but has a different base color.

It gets confusing since the genetics are just a bit different too.

The Hupp Australorps are amazing! You are lucky to be close enough to get some.

I haven't hatched chocolate eggs before.
I bought one of these:

It looks like it will do a decent job, definitely should work better than my flashlight.

You won't be sorry you bought that one. When we candle, we use one of those for the top and this-->http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ION2XYG/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for the bottom. Great results, and you don't miss anything.

Now that I've moved the thermometers to the other side of the bator (no longer directly under heating element) I'm reading bator: 99.5 kestrel: 92.3 Incutherm: 91.5 fish: 89.0. I'm guessing I def need to turn it up a bit. I really wish the proper fan had arrived cause a 10 degree difference between sides of the bator is not good at all.

Adjust it slowly and wait a couple of hours between adjustments.

Good job!
