6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

You have a lovely flock! I love the black/white/silver solids and patterns mixed with red!

Big Daddy Crow is a beauty! Any SOA fans out there with a roo named SAMCRO? Just curious.

I just thought of it and think it's a good call for a futurre boy. Don't tell me anything if you watched it I haven't even started season 7 yet.

Thanks! There's definitely a variety. lol Btw, I forgot to mention, one of our red hens has spurs! What's that all about??? I took her away from the flock for a week to see if she was still producing and yes, she was! I have no idea how it happened.

Also, do the reds look like RIR's? That's what they're supposed to be but they look too light in color to me.

I have some hens with some dandy spurs. I don't keep RIR so don't know much. Did you get them from a hatchery? I know the Heritage ones are so dark red they look almost black but hatchery RIR are much lighter.

Shipping tracking shows my eggs have left Texas and Ohio but not that they've hit the ABQ Post Office, so it looks like I'll have a split setting of eggs with my farmers market mutts going in the incubator today and the late arrivals -- what with settling -- going in on Saturday.

Serendipitiously, I got an early Christmas present of a new incubator!

Thank you, Santa (and DH), for making it easier to manage these glitches!

I'll play! I set eggs last night. Some are BLRW and the rest are BLRW/EE mix. Assuming my bator doesn't fry them. This morning my thermometer had fallen user the turner and I had no time to correct it. So hopefully it's ok. :/

Due to my kids school/work work, my eggs went in at 7:20 this morning. My egg trays where full, so the remainder are sitting up against the side. Either I will hand turn them, or use a stack of books and move the incubator from side so side.

Ours came from Tractor Supply but I don't know where they get them from.

I'll play! I set XX eggs last night. XX are BLRW and the rest are BLRW/EE mix. Assuming my bator doesn't fry them. This morning my thermometer had fallen user the turner and I had no time to correct it. So hopefully it's ok.

SHHHH!!!! PM ronnott1 with how many you've set. There's a "Guess total eggs set" contest going on too. And if you've had your eggs delivered, let him know what city and state they came from and the city and state you are in for the "Longest egg delivery" contest.

Oh and by the way...WELCOME TO THE HAL!!!!

Oh NO!! I'm so sorry! LOL. I'll fix that ;)

I set eggs at 8:30 this morning before heading out the door for work. I don't want to give numbers for the sake of the contest but here are the types I set:

Buff Orpingtons
Rhode Island Reds
White Wyandottes
Barred Rocks
Red Leghorns
Silkies ( may or may not have a silkie dad)
Lavender Ameraucanas

and because chicken math is easy and I had room in the bator.....a couple barnyard mutts from my LA roo over a Dark Brahma hen.

I also have 5 eggs in lockdown in the hatcher due tomorrow from a test batch. The LA roo over the following hens:

LA x2
Blue Andalusian x1
BCM x1
White Rock x1

Good luck to everyone. May your temps always be perfect!
